British Plastics Pty Ltd/Michael Bayley(Aust) Ltd: Ornamin, Hostess Housewares

British Plastics was located in Victoria St, North Melbourne from 1945, then later at Burwood Hwy, Hawthorn, Victoria. British Plastics Pty. Ltd. was taken over in 1963 by Associated Leathers Ltd. They produced ‘Ornamin’ and ‘Vogue’ Melmac dinner ware from 1959-1980, under licence from the American Cyanamide Company.

In 1961 British Plastics was bought by Michaelis Bayley (Aust) Ltd.

From around 1975-1980 the branding became ‘Hostess Housewares’.

Sandles, canisters (1970s) bread boards, butter dishes, mugs, bowls, plates, picnic sets containers, ashtrays, toys.
